Virtual
System Model
A digital twin that revolutionises the monitoring, diagnostics, and management of data centres, transforming technical and environmental data into an immersive and instantly understandable experience.
The context
Mission-critical infrastructure, insufficient visibility. For a broadcaster operating 24/7, the data centre is mission-critical infrastructure: any outage can jeopardise broadcasts, production, and reputation. Many data centres are managed through separate dashboards and systems, but fragmented data makes it difficult to quickly identify and interpret anomalies.
There are four main issues: the lack of a unified view of the infrastructure, slow diagnoses based on manual correlations, heavy reliance on a small number of specialists, and poor coordination between managers and technicians during incidents.
Our goal: to turn complex data into visual information that is immediately understandable and genuinely useful for making decisions and taking action.
The solution
Techstar has created an immersive and interactive digital twin of the broadcaster’s entire infrastructure on Techstar Core. This is updated in real time by IoT streams and synchronised with the company’s systems via APIs. The platform presents a 3D representation of racks, power lines, cabling, sensors, UPS, and cooling systems, offering a unified and instantly understandable view of the entire ecosystem.
Technicians can navigate environments, isolate components, and access contextual information, metrics history, maintenance logs, and technical documentation. Spatial dashboards display data such as temperature, energy consumption, available bandwidth, and system status directly on the assets, while intelligent alerts pinpoint anomalies with precision and indicate their criticality level.
The solution can be accessed from PCs, tablets, smartphones, and mixed reality devices. In the field, technicians can view guidance superimposed on physical assets, reducing intervention times. Thanks to standard APIs, the digital twin integrates with existing systems without requiring their replacement or creating dependency on a single vendor.

Service continuity and more secure operations. Adopting the Virtual System Model has transformed the management of the broadcaster’s data centres, improving not only response speed but also the quality of decisions, collaboration between departments, and the predictability of interventions. Thanks to the spatial representation of anomalies, the time needed to identify the cause and location of a problem has been reduced by 60%. Meanwhile, intelligent alerts have enabled the prompt detection of thermal anomalies, overloads, and component degradation, contributing to a 40% reduction in critical incidents.
Operational coordination has also become more effective: managers, site supervisors, and technicians now work from a shared, up-to-date representation of the infrastructure, which reduces ambiguity and the time needed to get everyone on the same page during incidents. Immersive visualisation has also made the systems more accessible even to less specialised staff, by spreading the ability to carry out initial response across a larger number of operators and reducing reliance on just a few experts.
Data that previously required hours of manual correlation is now instantly readable. Techstar hasn’t changed the systems: it’s changed how people see them.
